An Update

What a ride the past three months have been! While I have enjoyed the break from posting here, I’m excited to be back on the blogging circuit.

As you may remember, I decided to take a brief hiatus in preparation of our second daughter’s birth. Aubrey Michelle arrived healthy (and huge!) on April 4 at 2:50pm, weighing 9 pounds and 1 ounce and stretching 20.5 inches. Her delivery was much smoother that Abigail’s. She and I were both feeling great!

The morning we were to be discharged, I woke up shaking uncontrollably. Fever had set in, and upon examination, the doctor found an infection in my uterus. My doctor thought it best to keep me in the hospital three extra days to have an iv drip antibiotics. So, we stayed.

Friday afternoon we headed home and enjoyed a chaotic four and a half days of trying to adjust to two children while recovering from an extended hospital stay.

Early Tuesday evening, I woke from a short nap with stomach pains. Once again, my fever had returned. That night Matt graciously served me by rubbing oils on me to keep my fever and pain down while we waited for morning to head back to the doctor. My heart was breaking at the thought of still being sick! By the time we arrived at the doctor’s office, I was feeling delirious.  I could barely sit up or walk. The diagnosis, again, was that the infection had returned!

We were admitted into the hospital for another three days of three different antibiotic drips into an iv. The hospital was beginning to feel like home! Thankfully, we were allowed to keep Aubrey in the room with us so that I could nurse; she did great! It was a trying, exhausting time. But God, of course, proved Himself faithful.

We are so grateful for the wonderful nurses of St. Luke’s who cared for us and for my doctor who was so loving and kind. We are also grateful to Matt’s work for giving him extra time off. Thank you to all who came by the hospital, watched Abigail, brought us food, and prayed and encouraged us. We truly saw the body of Christ at work.

The month of April is a very dark blur in my mind, and May is also somewhat fuzzy. Thankfully, God has been gracious to heal my body, and return my energy. Having two little blessings has been wonderful! Abigail has adjusted to her little sister better than I could have imagined. She LOVES to bring Aubrey her paci, help me change diapers, and gives TONS of kisses to her sister. Aubrey is now smiling and cooing and is all around a sweet baby. She has had a bit of colic most evenings, but we are nearing the end of that phase (Lord willing!).

Matt continues to work diligently at HAL, and he loves his girls! I’m spending my days feeding, changing diapers, and loving on my little ladies. My house isn’t quite as clean, nor do I look quite as pretty every day. But I wouldn’t trade this life for anything.

It’s Time!

Yes, it’s time!

Time to start blogging again!

This break has been an excellent recharge to my batteries. Now that baby number two has entered the family, my schedule is a bit more cramped. Thankfully though, these three months have been a wonderful time of learning, growing, crying out to the Father, and seeking His wisdom. A new normal has begin to emerge, and I’m finally feeling a bit like myself.

I’m excited to begin sharing the things God is currently teaching me with you. Stay tuned this month for new recipes, grammar ideas, money tips, a series on how to serve a pregnant or new mother, and a few devotional thoughts. If you have any ideas, feel free to let me know those as well!

While you’re here today, be sure to let me know what you think of the new theme. Also, check out my updated pages: My Story, My Desire, and My Favorite Places. If you haven’t done so already, you can sign up to receive each new post straight to your inbox.
